Rotary Central Eye Bank
Rotary Eye Bank running in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is a prestigious project for Rotary Club of Delhi Central. It is serving the humanity, providing care to your eyes in addition to providing Eye sight to the Blind. It has its own storing equipment to store the eyes donated by the willing donors, which comes after a great persuation from the family members of the terminally sick/ brain dead patients.
The Rotary Eye Bank was started at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in 1979 by our Club with assistance from the Eye department of the Hospital. The project was initiated by our member Dr S R K Malik a renowned Eye Specialist. Since then the Bank has grown and continues to do a great job.
The Eye Bank has the facility of registering a volunteer donor, on its records, the family of the donor, coordinates with the Eye Bank to donate the eyes of the person, when he/she passes away, thus helping the needy. The team from the Eye Bank reaches the Donor within two hours of the intimation and retrieves eyes after making the dead body presentable for the berieved family.
